The purpose of the course is to provide delegates with the skills to apply Theory of Change as a tool for the development of Strategic Plans and Annual Performance Plans. It provides basic information on key concepts and guidance on how to apply the concepts to Theory of Change and logical framework. It provides delegates with interactive material to stimulate thinking through key concepts and the application of those concepts to real life programmes.
The course is aimed at planners, monitoring and evaluation specialist as well as programme managers in the national, provincial and local spheres of government, who are involved in the planning programmes, Strategic plans, Annual Performance Plans and Annual Operations Plans.
- Contextualise planning management processes including APP’s and Strategic Plans.
- Conduct a situational analysis with tools such as diagnostic analysis, problem tree analysis,
solution tree analysis to identify priorities and formulate key actions applicable to planning
for APP’s and Strategic Plans.
- Apply the Theory of Change process to build a results chain.
- Plan for the operationalisation of programme linked to institutional strategic and resources,
through the application of a Logical Framework.
The course is non-credit bearing and is not linked to any unit standard
Learners will be informally assessed through individual and group activities.
